California Republican Assembly endorses Chuck DeVore

The California Republican Assembly, a 75 year old conservative group in this state, endorsed Chuck DeVore for Senate today with over 75% support on the first ballot.

“CRA must keep working and producing solid conservative candidates for office at all levels of government, and I hope that my fellow Californians will join the CRA team and get involved with a local chapter.” Ronald Reagan said that of the CRA years ago, and today the group proved itself to live up to those words still. The doubters question DeVore, even after his convincing debate victory, saying he has no name recognition, he has no fundraising, and he can’t win. The CRA stood up today and pushed back. Conservative activists know who he is, stand ready to give, and can be the backbone of a DeVore victory.

Fisking the Fiorina Letter

Update: There’s a debate coming at noon Pacific between the Republican candidates for Senate, which will be available online at ktkz.com live. Listen and judge for yourself if you like.

Senators Coburn, Inhofe, and Kyl have put out a letter explaining why conservatives should back Carly Fiorina for Senate instead of Chuck DeVore. I have problems with this letter. Here’s how.

Barbara Boxer (D, CA) to get primary challenger: Mickey Kaus.

Seriously.

Pioneering political blogger Mickey Kaus took out papers filed to run for U.S. Senate in California, he told LA Weekly. The Venice resident said he’ll run this year against Barbara Boxer for her seat. He said he took out filed papers at with the Los Angeles County Registrar of Voters, although a spokeswoman there could not yet confirm the filing.

The Democrat has been centrist and even conservative on some of the issues on which Boxer has taken a more left-leaning stand, including immigration: He does not favor amnesty and favors a more restrictive national policy.

Mickey’s even admitted to it on his site, which would explain why it’s not been updated for a week otherwise.  For obvious reasons, I’m not endorsing him - a hypothetical Senator Kaus would caucus with the Democrats, which breaks the first rule of my endorsement criteria - but if you’re a Democrat who is tired of a liberal idiot* or idiots representing you, well, do something useful about it.  Nobody cares if you’re just going to be mortified.

I’ll have my Demon Sheep Well Done

Demon Sheep

How do you like your Demon Sheep cooked? Or maybe you prefer him squished, mocked, or just plain sheared? Whatever your preference, today’s the day to Finish Him! with a hop on over to Chuck DeVore’s new Demon Sheep extermination website.

The California Senate primary has heated up in recent weeks. After Tom Campbell tucked tail from the Governor’s race, he immediately drew fire from the previous frontrunner, Carly Fiorina. And while her ad drew… attention, it is true that Tom Campbell is not the libertarian Republican he appears to be. Many support him because they believe he is a compromise: strong on fiscal issues, and “moderate” on social issues. The sad part is though: he’s neither.

Mark Levin, Author of Liberty and Tyranny, Endorses Chuck DeVore in GOP Calif Sen Primary

"He is a solid Constitutionalist"

Mark Levin today in going over Rasmussen poll results and a piece written in the LA Times, went on a slight tangent for a few seconds to describe his personal endorsement for the California GOP Senate race;

“By the way, uh, Im going to endorse Chuck Devore. People ask me so I might as well tell you; he is a solid Constitutionalist…my point is folks, if we’re going to get into these battles, let’s back people who are solid right-wingers.”

Exactly my point, the pendulum in California has swung so far to the left that to pick a moderate accomplishes nothing. You say Fiorina has a more compelling story? Has a better chance against the Boxer SEIU machine? What?

Honestly I think a more conservative candidate can win in California if the word gets out. The grass roots are spreading that word, but it will take real money to break through into the mainstream where the majority of Californians sit at the TV taking it all in via 30 second sound bites and selected clips.

Give till it hurts.

Chuck DeVore Money Bomb Today

Chuck DeVore has a money bomb going today to aid his effort to humble and unseat Babs Boxer. I hope the right can flex some muscle and support him.

This is the part where I’m supposed to tell you he’s another Marco Rubio, Doug Hoffman, or Scott Brown. I won’t. Every candidate has his own strengths and weaknesses, although DeVore has been outspoken in support of each of those three candidates. I will say that DeVore is the only candidate running for statewide office in California with a proven pro-life, pro-marriage, anti-spending, anti-tax voting record. DeVore has had more fundraising success than Republicans in years past did, and it’s only February 1.

Chuck DeVore has also gained the endorsement of Tom McClintock, he says. McClintock also has a proven record in fighting the Democrats in their outrageous free spending ways, and is notable in Washington for his bill to allow early TARP repayment to free businesses from Barney Frank’s and Barack Obama’s grabbing, regulating hands.

Feel free to donate under my tag or sign up to join the money bomb yourself and run up your own score.

Do we actually want to run a candidate like Tom Campbell, who favors massive gas tax hikes and goes to national magazines to write against marriage? Or Carly Fiorina who believes the American tradition equality of opportunity is insufficient, and we need rigged outcomes to get equality? I don’t think so.

5.7% Growth? Not Even! Dems Vote 1.9 Trillion Debt Increase.

While Obama sacrifices and ‘finds’ TWENTY BILLION DOLLARS in spending cuts…. I’d say “WHAT?!!!” – but my editor yells at me when I get redundant. The hutzpah of this bunch, from the President right on down, is BREATHTAKING. With Democrats under challenge in states all over the union you would think that Congressional Democrats would understand that a highly motivated and IRATE electorate is watching their every move with the intensity of a laboratory technician studying a virulent microorganism. Good simile though. With Illinois, like Massachusetts, no longer a guaranteed lead-pipe cinch Democrat playground.

States all over the nation are experiencing the same transformation. California’s Senator Barbara Boxer is being challenged by former Congressman Tom Campbell (R). Tom has a comfortable lead on the GOP pack but get this… he is running only FOUR POINTS behind Babs in this West Coast liberal wonderland.  For him to be this close early in the race does not bode well for Boxer. In the severely economically depressed Central Valley all GOP candidates are running ahead of her.

Tom Campbell

With the extreme left wing California Assembly about to fall upon Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger’s veto sword over the absolutely preposterous TWO HUNDRED BILLION DOLLAR California State Single Payer Health Care Bill now sitting in the Assembly, California with an almost 40 billion dollar budget shortfall  and the state about to declare itself out of money again, voters are likely to come out of their self-induced stupor long enough to remember that it is Democrats that are doing all this to them and that probably won’t do Boxer much good either.

FIVE POINT SEVEN PERCENT GROWTH in the GDP… and over half of it attributed to inventory replenishment,  most of that dependent on fiscal and monetary stimulus. Economist Nouriel Roubini, who predicted the  banking crash and recession, stated that the second half of this year will fade to just  1.5 % growth as stimulus dollars decline and fade away WITH NO JOB GROWTH. Watch for Obama to trumpet TEMPORARY CENSUS JOBS as a spectacular INCREASE in employment. But then we’ve seen that he’ll do or say just about anything.

California Patriots should be pounding out the faxes, emails, phone calls, letters and visits to State Assembly members’ offices – remind them that what happened in Massachusetts could happen  in California as well. Meanwhile Congressional Democrats WITHOUT a single Republican vote plunged this country ONE POINT NINE TRILLION DOLLARS FARTHER IN DEBT. Undoubtedly clearing the way for more Democrat drunken spending binges.
These people have to be stopped… It’s my job… it’s your job… IT’S OUR JOB!!

Why Carly Fiorina doesn’t want herself on tape

When Carly Fiorina speaks on the campaign trail here in California, running to be the Republican nominee to unseat Barbara Boxer, she tries to prohibit recording of her speeches. However somebody snuck in an audio recorder to an event yesterday, and these clips seem to show why she would do that. The real, private Carly seems to be a bit different from the public, ‘conservative’ Carly.

Boxer: Don’t Worry, Obamacare Pays for Abortion

It Was Never in Doubt, but Thanks for Clarifying

Tomorrow morning the president’s health care rationing bill may be facing its own death panel. But for today at least, Democrat leaders claim that they are just days away from enacting this monstrosity. If the Senate bill is about to come for a vote in the House - as some suggest - ‘pro-Life Democrats’ will have to explain their vote for a bill that Barbara Boxer says provides government coverage for abortions:

Boxer, who has received a 100% approval rating from groups like NARAL and Planned Parenthood year after year since her election to the Senate in 1992, had been a featured speaker at an abortion-rights rally in Washington, D.C., just weeks before she became involved in the ‘abortion compromise.” Following her decision to agree to the Nelson language, groups like the National Organization for Women, the Congressional Pro-Choice Caucus and the National Institute for Reproductive Health issued blistering criticism of the senator. National Institute for Reproductive Health president Kelli Conlin said the Senate bill “has sold out women” and described its as “”unconscionable.”

But not to worry, Boxer told McClatchy News Service. Boxer, reported McClatchy, “said it’s only an ‘accounting procedure’ that will do nothing to restrict [abortion] coverage.”

Boxer Banking on Faulty Stimulus Figures for Reelection

Senator Barbara Boxer Monday hit the campaign trail to tout jobs “created by the stimulus” in California by the Democrats’ $800 billion economic recovery package, attracting ridicule from Republican Carly Fiorina’s campaign who accused the junior Democratic senator of an “effort to deceive voters into thinking she’s actually done something for California.”

With the expansion of California’s State Route 905 as her backdrop, Senator Boxer insisted “that these stimulus dollars are putting people to work.”

But an Associated Press analysis released the same day by independent economists at five universities revealed that stimulus spending has failed in lowering unemployment rates.

While highway constructions projects exist as effective photo opportunities for vulnerable incumbents, the AP’s analysis laid bare a truth the White House and Congressional Democrats are keen on ignoring: infrastructure projects like road construction have “not markedly improved the country’s broad employment picture.”

Despite an unprecedented surge in transportation spending and Beltway intervention, California’s unemployment rate remains above 12 percent. Researchers found that local unemployment was largely unaffected, with rates rising and falling “regardless of how much stimulus money Washington poured out for transportation.”

Even proponents of President Barack Obama’s stimulus package have admitted its failure in stemming the tide of unemployment.
